Jepp. Savini did a good descrption I think.

So taking a .m2ts from a BR and playing it with the Mede8er should give the stutter all 40 seconds.
If yes this is proove.

This should be easy to check.
But will have to wait for tomorrow.

Saw a thread on WD-Live-Player, same issue described, even confrmed by WD to include an 23.976-option in the future.

Ok Savini, I think I got it now...

I take a quarter of hour to watch end credits on few MKVs.
@50hz / 24p disabled: missing pic each sec. Normal
@60hz / 24p disabled: smoother (no micro freeze each sec)
@50or60 / 24p enabled: smoother than 60hz, but I could notice a freezing image occuring (maybe) each 40sec. Not sure of timing.

Sorry for polluting a bit the discussion.

mysticc: Could you post the link where you read about WD having the 23,976 fps problem fixed in the future?

Is there a way to contact the Mede8er guys directly and tell them about the problem or are they reading this forum anyway to get feedback from the users?

Mede8er do actively monitor this forum.

It would be necessary to build a strong case to support your argument with irrefutable evidence as, when this was taken up with Realtek on a previous occasion, their response was that the 24fps reference was a simple rounding used to simplify menus and refers to 23.976 fps wherever employed.
Questions? Please check the Mede8er Beginners Guide.

For technical assistance, please take note of the Technical support guidelines.

Ensure too that you are using the latest firmware when requesting support.

Nope, cannot find it anymore.
After looking around WD Live seems to do it correctly, has 23,976 and 24p option,.. so asuming this must have been a post on the first WD player.

Did this easy test and can confirm !!

First Downloaded "finding Puppy" , real 24p-file, shown as 24 in Mede8er when pressing info.

Then watched end-credits from Dark Knight, being a 23,976 .m2ts. (End-Credits are easiest way to check, very easy to catch it)
Shows 23 when pressing info on Mede8er. Selected 1080p50Hz for my Sony HW-10.

Yes, every 40 seconds there is little hick-up as file obviously is running a bit to fast? , not 23,976 but 24

So Mede8er-guys - please test it on your own and please go back to Realtek then (assuming you can confirm, but I am confident you will)

So, did someone else watch end-credits of an 23,976 .m2ts and can confirm to build a strong case as Insomniac asked for?

I can confirm for MKV files. I can't be definitively sur about 40 secs, but I'm sure about a 1 frame freeze occuring sometime during credits. All 23,976 MKV did it... Just I don't bring a chrono to have the exact measure.
I think I have a m2ts somewhere... If have a bit of time, I'll try to give a look.

It is all 41,66... seconds, simple math.
If you recognize it around every 41 secs (approx) this is the issue.

Should also be very easy for Mede8er-guys to check themselves.

Mede8er? - Nobody has a movie with end-credits? ;-)

Any news on this - Should be easy going to build a "strong case" when doing this test yourselves.
Takes some minutes to get the effect , - some more hours to crosscheck, and you`re done.

Interesting thread. Just to add some additional info: don't trust the fps info displayed by the Mede8er, it may be wrong...

Take a look at the post "24 fps auto not always works"; it seems that sometimes the frame rate info displayed via the info button is not the real frame rate of the video, but the original frame rate of the film...or even another figure (I have an example in which it displays 29fps, when it really is 23,976...and it switches to 24 fps

Just wanted to bring this up again. Several persons including me have done the simple test and found the 41 seconds hick-ups. It would be nice if the Mede8er guys could say something about this. A simple "We could reproduce the bug and are working on it." would be enough. Also a simple "Don't know what you are talking about, the 23,976 fps playback is flawless" would also be enough because in that case my Mede8er would go the Ebay and I would be looking for a player who can handle 23,976 fps output.

No response makes me think this issue is of no great importance for Mede8er.

This is a bit annoying, why invest time in such things when there is no response?
