A few questions on 1000X3D
« on: February 17, 2013, 01:57:27 AM »
1.  Can 1000X3D log on Win 7 user accounts that do not have password?

2.  Can 1000X3D decode WMA (Pro) audio?

3.  For  playback over network, is Samba or NFS better? or each has it pro and cons?

4.  Does Win 7 have a built in NFS or it requires a 3rd party plug-in?

Thanks.

1.  Can 1000X3D log on Win 7 user accounts that do not have password?
I haven't tried this, but in theory it should be possible

2.  Can 1000X3D decode WMA (Pro) audio?
I will let someone else answer this one.

3.  For  playback over network, is Samba or NFS better? or each has it pro and cons?
Samba is easier to set up in Win7, but NFS has better throughput. Samba should be sufficient for all 2D movies, and most 3D movies, but if  you are watching 3D movies and they stutter over Samba, then NFS is the solution

4.  Does Win 7 have a built in NFS or it requires a 3rd party plug-in?
Sadly not. Hanewin is the recommended choice, but not free :(

All Supported codecs can be found in the specs:
http://www.mede8er.com/mede8er_product_med1000x3d.html

WMA PRO is not mentioned there.

What is NFS? And is turning samba on the only way to transfer files from pc to the internal hard drive over the network?

I don't want to hijack the thread,  but I would appreciate it if I can add one more question:

5.  What version of Samba does the MEDX10003D Run (I am on  firmware version 1.05)?

I have a few issues with accessing the Mede8er from Windows 7 and have read that it ideally needs Samba V3.3.2 or later?
